Wellington East Girls' College has an enrolment scheme. Girls living in our zone have automatic entry. We also welcome enrolment of students from overseas.


Dates for 2012 Enrolment

Wednesday 15th June 2011 : Open Evening at WEGC

Monday 1st August 2011 : Application for Year 9 enrolment interviews

Monday 15th - 18th August 2011 : Enrolment interviews

Monday 8th August 2011 : All Year 9 applications to be received by this date

Friday 26th August 2011 :Ballot for out of zone Year 9 places

Wednesday 31st August 2011 : Parents notified of ballot outcomes (Year 9)

Friday 4th November 2011 : All applications for Year 10-13 students to be received by this date

Wednesday 16th November 2011 : Parents notified of ballot outcomes (Year 10-13)


Home zone boundary

Northern Boundary to a point on the harbour opposite the intersection of Brandon Street and Customhouse Quay.

Western Boundary south from the intersection of Brandon Street and Customhouse Quay along Willis Street. The boundary runs west at Aro Street up to the intersection of Aro and Durham Streets. Included are all house numbers on the north side to 168 Aro Street and all houses on the south side to the intersection of Aro and Durham Streets. Included are Boston, Epuni, and Alameda Streets and St Johns Tce. Houses in Devon Street, up to and including No 46, are included. All houses in Essex Street are included. The western boundary continues in a southerly direction to a point opposite the intersection of Karepa and Apuka Street. The boundary then turns west and continues west to the sea. All houses in Karori are excluded.

Students in Year 8 at a Wellington School

  • Your school will receive a visit from our teachers who will give you a prospectus and invite you to our Open Evening which is on 15 June this year.
  • You fill out an enrolment form and get this to the school office.
  • You will be given an appointment time to come to the school with your parent/s or caregiver/s for an enrolment interview. At this interview you will complete an Enrolment Form.
  • You must bring  a passport, birth certificate, proof of residency and recent school reports to this interview.
  • Your enrolment will usually be confirmed at that interview.

Students at another secondary school in Wellington or elsewhere in New Zealand

  • Write or call in for a prospectus: Contact Us Page
  • Make an appointment for an enrolment interview. This will usually
    be with the Dean of your level.
  • Bring a birth certificate, passport, proof of residency and any recent school reports
    or other relevant documents.

Open Evening

WEGC Open Evening is worth coming to.  The whole school is put on show.  There are classrooms set up with experiments and samples of student work, musical groups performing in the corridors, dramatic performances in the Drama Room and much more.  Dozens of students volunteer to work in labs and be tour guides and are available to answer your questions about our school.
