Courses in the Digital Technologies Department offer the development of knowledge and skills using a wide range of exciting, modern technologies. The courses are designed to ignite a passion for information technology, and to lead students into a rewarding and fulfilling future.

Department News

This year the Year 10 Information Technology class is again involved in a virtual conferencing project with Warrandyte High School, Melbourne, Australia. The students have paired up with pairs of students from Warrandyte to create webzines about social networking.

Komputer Kooks

The Komputer Kooks (Wellington East Girls’ College Computer Club) are closely affiliated with the Digital Technologies Department because the club is populated predominantly by girls studying Digital Technology courses.

Their enthusiasm abounds and the department is alive with Kooks activities. They meet every week and are involved in many varied initiatives, including entering competitions and tutoring parents and teachers. Find out more about this club

Programme

New cutting edge Digital Technologies Achievement Standards will be introduced into the senior curriculum, beginning at Level 1 NCEA in 2011. They will be developed to Level 2 for 2012 and Level 3 for 2013. The standards have been developed to lead students seamlessly into either the tertiary training required to meet the demands of the jobs servicing an increasingly technologically literate society; or the employment available in an increasingly technologically literate society. 


Progression

Course titles of the pathways through the year levels, for 2011, 2012 and 2013 as the Achievement Standards are introduced.
