| Description | The annual Year 9 Spelling Bee was held on Friday lunch-time, with 23 entrants. It was hosted by Elise Jollife (Library Prefect) and Julia Wells (Peer Tutoring Prefect). After a 20 word written round, and a 1 word oral round, two spellers were tied. Above Left: Mariah and Gisela concentrate during their spell-off. Above Right: Elsie has her finger poised on the bell as the oral round is under way. Both Mariah (909) and Gisela (953) had 100%, with 22/22, and they entered a spell-off, where they would get a word each until one of them got it wrong, and the other correctly spelt it. But both spellers were too good and didn't get a single word wrong after having about six each, so they were named 1st equal. Top overall class went to 953, whose three spellers got a total of 44/66. Third place went to Ali (909), who got 18/22. |
