| Description | The Komputer Kooks have begun a project where they are tutoring parents of Wellington East students. The project is running on Wednesdays after school and so far has around 10 parents attending it. They get one-on-one help with basic skills and the girls have thoroughly enjoyed being able to volunteer their time in this way. Ms Roughton, HOD of Computing, is particularly excited that the girls have the chance to help out new migrant parents, whose daughters make up an integral part of the school's culture. The Kooks have been heavily involved in this sort of selfless tutoring all year, having volunteered to teach staff members of WEGC Powerpoint and laptop skills and also having gone and helped out at the new migrants homework centre in Newtown some afternoons. |
