The School Council, helped by the Charity Committee and Geography students, raised nearly $1,000 from a bake sale last Wednesday, and another $1,000 from a mufti day later in the week, with funds going towards the Christchurch earthquake recovery efforts.

They took the opportunity on Wednesday, during the PPTA strike, to hold a bake sale in Cuba Street, with permission from the Council.  The sale attracted lots of attention, with Radio NZ and City Life interviewers approaching them.  Positive comments from the public have also be relayed to the school about the girls involved.

The School Council held a mufti-day on Thursday to raise funds for the same cause.  The total of the two events was $2,177 and it will be going to the Red Cross to be used for the efforts in Christchurch.
