The Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival was held at WEGC in the last week of Term 1.  WEGC entered three teams, and two of them won major categories.  The festival has secondary school groups from all over the country choosing scenes to perform in a two night regional, and then national, competition.  For the nights held at WEGC, a group of volunteer students from our school worked as the backstage crew.

  • Best Student Directed - Year 13 Drama group (Anna Robinson, Molly Bergquist, Sam Edney, Jill Meeks) with a scene from 'As You Like It' interpreted to a modern day school setting with song.  This group of girls also took out this category with their item last year.
  • Best Ensemble Work - A mixed year group item directed by Mrs Miller on 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', set in the 1970s and with song.  Mrs Miller was particularly proud that the award went to this group, which was mainly made up of Year 9 and 10s.
  • Best Technician - Bonnie Nelson of Year 13 who worked on the lights.
