Tech Victory

Event Name Tech Victory
Start Date 3rd Aug 2009
End Date
Duration N/A
Description

Chandni Patel, Reda Jawed and Neelam Bhikha, all of Year 13, entered a technology  innovation challenge created by Otago University.  They won the 'multi-user virtual environment' category, which used the internet site 'Second Life' as its basis.

The girls took their experiences with Stage Challenge this year and were able to put a proposal together about how a dance-simulation programme would be beneficial.

They discovered that the world of tech is still a very male one - they were the only all-female entrants, and so felt especially proud of their victory.

There was an article on them in the July 3rd edition of the Dominion Post, adding to the extensive media coverage Kooks girls have already had this year.

Year 13 student, Lucy Mitchell, wrote an article on the Kooks (which includes the three students involved in the technology challenge) and their tutoring of parents, which appeared in the July 30th Wellingtonian.
