Description

Each Year 9 class has a set of tuakana (big sisters) allocated to it to provide some peer support to their teina (little sister) class.  They have been giong to form classes to run group activities, helped with the Year 9 afternoon tea and have planned an Amazing Race event to help students get to know their way around the school. 

To be a tuakana students need to apply at the end of Year 12 and attend a two day work-shop.  Students who show good leadership skills and qualities such as initiative, empathy and inclusiveness are selected for the following year.  There are always many more applicants than positions available, so congratulations to the following Year 13 students who are the 2011 tuakana group.
