WEGC won a hard-faught final against Otaki Collage to come top of their grade. 

Division 1 is the top ten-a-side league in Wellington, and the team is hoping to compete in the next grade up, the fifteen-a-side grade, next year.

Last year, their first time in the competition in years, they were narrowly defeated in the semi-finals.  This year, with a lot of young players, they have improved to win the garde.  In her victory speech the captain, Rangimarie of Year 11, acknowledged what a hard and physical encounter it had been, the best match of the season, and thanked the opposition for travelling down to Miramar for the game.

There was a large contingent of vocal East supporters with many staff, students, old girls and family members braving the cold to come and support our team. 

We are lucky to have one of Wellington's best school-grade coaches and hopefully many of the team will be chosen to represent Wellington in their age groups.
