| Description | A group of WEGC students formed a Relay for Life team, for the first time in memory. It was lead by Deputy Head Girl, Anna Robinson, and about 30 girls ended up contributing their time and energy to the relay. They had to be active in the relay from 4pm Saturday to 12pm Sunday afternoon, right through the night. Staff volunteered to help supervise along with parents. The team came second - an amazing effort. They completed the relay in 100m sprints, as a team effort. This is a disease that affects a lot of NZers, including Anna's mother, who had spoken at assembly the previous week. A former WEGC Science teacher, Judith Christian, died of cancer about six years ago, having taught through until just before her death, so this is a cause close to the heart of the school. |
