Kapa Haka

Our Kapa Haka group is known for its high standard of performance and are under the guidance of Whaea Kiriwera.

This year we are pleased to have a strong contingent of junior students, while being led Mapihi Te Uatuku of Year 13, Phinie Malir-Crawford, Mamaeroa Munn of Year 11 and Ketewhia Te Uatuku of Year 12.

They have been asked to perform at government functions and have several times been involved in the International Sevens Rugby event in Wellington.  They perform and compete in numerous competitions throughout the year as well as leading school welcomes.

The money came from a project brought together by Te Awe Maori Business network to give back to local Maori projects.  The presentation to respresentatives from our kapa haka group was featured on the Maori Television show, Te Kaea, and a short clip can be viewed here (from 13 minutes in to 15 minutes – wait for it to load and then click further along the time bar).
