Chamber Music

Chamber-Music

Chamber Music : Music written for a small number of musicians, one player per part, usually for 2-5 musicians but occasionally up to 10 or 12.

At East, we have many chamber music groups, some of which have just formed and others which have been together for years. Chamber music is a great way to meet other musicians of a similar level and to perform and compete with lots of other groups.

Soiree

One of the main chamber music events at East is the chamber music soiree, which was held on the 9th of June this year. This is a chance for groups to show what they have been working on during the year, and for groups competing in the Regional Chamber Music Contest, to perform before an audience before the big day. This year’s soiree was a great success.

Chamber Music Concert

We had two groups from East entered in the 2008 Chamber Music Contest: Mint, comprised of Alice Stevens-Carlyon, Harriet Ferry, Rita Maxim and Georgia Gray, and Tre, involving Catherine Ireland, Emily Wilby and Charlene Leong. Both groups performed very well and received many good comments from the adjudicator. This was also a special event for Mint as it was the first public performance of their piece ‘Tree Hanging’ which was written especially for them by East old girl, Alexandra Hay.
