There will be a board meeting on Tuesday 31 May to discuss the proposed changes to the Board Constitution.

Under school governance regulations, Boards can have between three and seven elected parent representatives. The Board is considering increasing the number of elected parent members to ensure broader community representation.

In addition, Boards are able to appoint members from organisations connected with the school. We have invited a representative from Taranaki Whānui, the Mana Whenua iwi of our area, to join the Board. This reflects our commitment to partnership and to strengthening the cultural foundations of our kura.

Next steps

Before any change can be made, the Board must discuss this proposal at a public Board meeting, and members of the school community have the right to attend.

At that meeting the Board will consider whether to formally resolve to:

- Increase the number of elected parent representatives on the Board, and to ratify the appointment of a Mana Whenua representative from Taranaki Whānui Te Atiawa as an appointed member.
