Job Description - Generic Head of Department

WEGC is a central city, multicultural girls’ school with an established reputation for student engagement, innovation and success.  We are about to move into new buildings with Innovative Learning Spaces and specialist studios.  Our year 9 students are taught in cross curricular collaborative hubs.  We run 3 sessions on most days to maximise student engagement

All teacher applicants will have familiarity with the New Zealand Curriculum, NCEA and the skills to use ICT to enhance learning outcomes.

Permanent, Full Time, 3 MU / 2 MMA

Position to Commence: Term 1 2019

We require a well-qualified, experienced and dynamic teacher to lead the teaching of Mathematics (Year 9-13).  

The successful applicant will have experience in curriculum leadership, commitment to collaborative innovative practices, ability to lead teams, articulate a vision for the department and demonstrate knowledge of the NZ Curriculum.

NZSL Interpreter

Fixed term, Part Time, Term Time Only

Start Date: 30 January 2019

Wellington East Girls' College requires an NZSL interpreter to assist a specific student.

The position is a fixed term part time role, based around the student’s timetable.  

The role is covered by the Support Staff in Schools Collective and graded in Grade D. Remuneration will be subject to evidence of qualifications provided.

The primary objectives are to :

  • Interpret for the student
  • Be a reader / writer for class work and assessments as required
  • Ensure student is well briefed of any change in routine in advance
  • Supervise and assist with mobilisation around school

Accounts Administrator_He Huarahi Tamariki

Permanent, Part Time, Term Time Only

Start Date: 22 January 2019

He Huarahi Tamariki are looking for an experienced accounts person ideally with knowledge of Xero, and an understanding of school or small business accounting would be helpful.  

This is a permanent, part time, term time only position.  School holidays are not worked, however additional hours may be required, particularly at the start and end of the school year. The role is 10-15 hours per week (to be negotiated), Monday to Friday, there may be some flexibility as to days worked

The successful applicant will be expected to :

  • Provide accounts administration for the school
  • Provide administrative support in the areas of financial personnel/HR and general matters

As you will be working in a School environment police vetting will be required at the shortlisting stage.

Relief Teachers

Wellington East Girls' College has an opportunity for registered teachers to be available for Relief teaching as and when required.  We are looking for teachers to teach any secondary subject, in particular, experience in PE, Science, Maths, Languages - French, Chinese and Te Reo Māori, and those who are available all days of the week would be useful.
