Job Description - Generic Head of Department

WEGC is a central city, multicultural girls’ school with an established reputation for student engagement, innovation and success.  We are about to move into new buildings with Innovative Learning Spaces and specialist studios.  Our year 9 students are taught in cross curricular collaborative hubs.  We run 3 sessions on most days to maximise student engagement

All teacher applicants will have familiarity with the New Zealand Curriculum, NCEA and the skills to use ICT to enhance learning outcomes.

Kapa Haka Tutor

Wellington East Girls' College requires a Kapa Haka Tutor. This is a casual / timesheet role. (expected around 2 hours per week, with further time when leading up to events or special activities)

Because of the nature of the activity some of this time will be done after school, evenings and weekends at different times.

The successful applicant will be expected to :

  • Plan and organise tutoring of Kapa haka
  • Assist at events and prepare students for regional competitions.

We are looking for someone who has experience in kapa haka at regional / national level; ability to develop items for kapa haka competitions; and the ability to work with young people and develop their skills for kapa haka.

As you will be working in a School environment police vetting will be required at the shortlisting stage.

Guidance Leader

Te Reo Māori Teacher

We require an enthusiastic innovative teacher with the ability to teach Te Reo Māori and Māori Performing Arts.  Please state other subjects.

Relief Teachers

Wellington East Girls' College has an opportunity for registered teachers to be available for Relief teaching as and when required.  We are looking for teachers to teach any secondary subject, in particular, experience in PE, Science, Maths, Languages - French, Chinese and Te Reo Māori, and those who are available all days of the week would be useful.
